NEA grants $2.8 million for reading program - Business First of Louisville:

The NEA has awarded $2,8 million to groupsd to sponsor The Big which will be held Septembert 2008 toJune 2009. The Big Read give s communities the opportunity to come togetherto read, discusw and celebrate one of 23 selections from Americamn or world literature, according to a news release. Grants were awarded to groupes in46 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgij Islands. Each group is receiving a grantr ofbetween $2,500 and $20,000. To date, the NEA has given more than 500 grants to support local BigRead projects.
In grants were awarded to: in Bowling which will hold a program todiscussw "To Kill a Mockingbird" in which will discuss "A Lesson Before Kentucky Gateway Museum Center in Maysville, which will discussx "The Age of Innocence;" , which also will discuss Williamsburgy Action Team, which also will discuss "A Lesson Before Dying." "Everythintg the NEA does we do in NEA chairman Dana Gioia said in the "I am delighted to announce our 208 new partnere in The Big Read.
